This line of research seeks to generate resources from the genetic information contained in clones (genetically identical individuals), aphid with a wide geographical distribution and ecological success (superclones) and rare clones , in order to compare the variation in expression of genes whose functional products, are involved in their host plants and natural enemies in the responses of the aphid gerome.

This line of research is responsible for studying the variations in both physiology and behavior occurring in aphids in response to stimuli that result in the recognition, acceptance and feeding on their host plants, and behavioral changes produced in response to the presence of natural enemies. In addition the molecular mechanisms underlying the observed responses will be investigated.

The purpose of this line is evaluating the presence of mutations, as well as variations in the expression of genes involved in mutational, metabolic and behavioral resistance to insecticides used to control aphids, using clones of aphids having a wide geographical distribution, frequent crops and persistent over time (superclones) and compare them with those rare clones.

This line of research aims to evaluate the interactions of aphids and their natural enemies through field experiments under semi-controlled conditions, to explore the correlations between environmental, climatic and landscape variables with the frequency of attacks, rates of parasitism tending to explain the ecological success of aphid clones in terms of distribution, frequency and duration in time. trophic structure
